Christmas Door Decor Inspiration!

Many of you are already decorating for Christmas or at least making plans for your Christmas decor. Having trouble deciding how you will adorn your front door for Christmas this year?  Take a peek at these adorable ideas. Hopefully you can draw inspiration for your own creation!

I am starting our Christmas wreath tour with this beautiful wreath.  I am crazy about vintage ornaments.  I am always searching antique stores for the beautiful ornaments of yesteryear.  This wreath is perfect for any vintage lover like me!
How about a cute, whimsical idea for your door?  I like the incorporation of the green hydrangea and red berries.
This is a more sophisticated idea compliments of Colonial Williamsburg.
If you decorate with a gingerbread theme, you will love this wreath!
Santa looks comfy perched in this red, cream, and green wreath.
If you are a knitter, you must make one of these for your home!
Speaking of Santa...love this one!
My mother loves cardinals.   I think this would look terrific on her front door.
Beautiful color combination in this wreath.
I think fresh eucalyptus is a great item to use in Christmas decorating.  This wreath combines fresh eucalyptus and berries.  Simply beautiful.
A Colourful Life blog posted this lovely pine cone wreath.  The cardinals and ornaments add a delightful pop of red.
Tartan plaid is my go to ribbon design for Christmas.  I use tartan plaid for my bows adorning the swags of garland on our stairs and the upper landing.  You can't go wrong with tartan plaid at Christmas! It seems so very Scottish!  This wreath would fit in quite nicely.
I hope I have given you have a few new ideas for your Christmas door decor.  Go ahead...get creative!

  1. I love the first one. I have many of the tree ornaments from the 50's passed down from my mother. They are my favorite, too. Deb

    1. Hi Deb,
Aren't the ornaments from the 50's and 60's just lovely? I have a small silver tree just for with a few of my vintage ornaments. Now to find a color wheel to illuminate my little tree!

    1. Thank you Linda. I love the vintage one too! I have to admit that it would be hard to use my vintage ornaments, which have lots of memories attached to them, in a wreath. I would be scared I'd break one:(

    1. I am so glad you stopped by today! Isn't that vintage one just beautiful?! If you look closely, it appears that the base of the wreath is probably styrofoam covered in silver tinsel. I bet you could make one just as lovely! If you do, please share it with me.

  5. Those are all beautiful wreaths for the front door. I'm in the planning stage of decorating my house next Friday. I usually start the day after Thanksgiving. I think my favorite wreath you showed was the last one. That would look pretty on my front door!

  6. Lynda, love all of this inspiration! My two favorites are the vintage ornament wreath and the gingerbread man. I made a heart wreath with pin ornaments after Christmas one year. I would love a Christmas one, but don't have the heart to use my vintage ornaments. lol! Maybe if I had oodles and gobs, but I don't. My basement kitchen and family room is candy/gingerbread themed. I think I need to make a wreath like that one year. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

    1. Thank you Jann. My kitchen would fit in well with your basement kitchen and family room. My kitchen theme is :Gingerbread and Gingham". I just love the two together. I hope you will share your Christmas decor with everyone. It sounds adorable! I am with you, I couldn't put my vintage collection on a wreath. I don't have that many and most of mine are from my first Christmas tree as a child. Too special to place on a wreath. Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving from my house to yours!

A Trip Down Memory Lane

I had planned to share my new front door decor, but alas, like many residents of the MS Gulf Coast, all  loose outside objects have been secured as we await the arrival of Hurricane Isaac. Instead, I thought I would share with you a set of my favorite dinnerware.  I began collecting Memory Lane ironstone many years ago, but my love of the pattern began when I was just a little girl.  My Grandma Mercer had one dinner plate.  I imagine that she picked it up either in a box of laundry soap or as a reward for shopping at the IGA of Chattahoochee, Florida.  I came to love her one plate.  My grandmother would make sure that my food was served on that plate no matter what other dinnerware pattern was set on her table!  When she passed away, I was blessed to receive her dining room set which included a lovely buffet with glass knobs along with the matching table and chairs.  I also received my Memory Lane plate. During my search for more pattern pieces, I found out that Memory Lane is consi

Fun Fall Door Decor

I am ready for the heat of summer to be over and the cool breezes of fall to head our way.  My sister called me the other day and said she wanted to pull out her autumn decorations and to that I say "Amen, Sista"! We both can't wait to say, "Happy Fall Ya'll"!! In the meantime, I need to update my fall door decor and have been looking for a few, fresh ideas.  Better Homes and Gardens had some wonderful fall wreath ideas.  I adore this unusual "wreath" made from a rake. Who said a wreath must be round? Etsy and Pinterest have an abundance of wreath ideas including several swags to use on your harvest door. Another cute idea from Better Homes and Gardens. It makes me think of  warm apple crisp topped with a dollop of whipped cream!   Yum!  Or how about those wonderfully apple scented candles?  Love those! Monograms are all the rage.  I think this would be a simple wreath to make.  Raise your hand if you like simple projects! Super cu

Thanksgiving Dinnerware to Grace Any Table

Southern Living recently published an article entitled "Turkey Plate Special" chronicling the origins of certain patterns.  Who knew that when Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863, we would end up with beautiful transferware patterns honoring the official bird of Thanksgiving?  I was excited to see my pattern, "His Majesty" by Johnson Brothers in the article.  We lovingly call these our Traveling Turkey Dishes.  Click  here  to find out why! I set our Reading Room   table with His Majesty for a quick peek at this beautiful pattern.  I love my "Traveling Turkey Dishes".  It is a joy to get them out and use them throughout November.  I also love this old table.  It has the scars of a well lived life and reminds me so much of my sweet grandmother who loved it as much as I do. A close up of His Majesty shows the lovely colors of the season.  I don't own the turkey platter, but it is on my wish list! (Replacements) Anot
